"Ariane cities "Space Schoolmasters" meet with teachers of math and science
Bremen, 20 July 2010
Schoolmasters and educational planners from the Ariane cities of Barcelona, Bremen, Les Mureaux, Liege and Toulouse met today to exchange their experiences in space education at secondary and vocational school level, and to prepare future collaborative projects.
Ms. Birgit Rambalski, representing the Hanseatic City of Bremen and host of the meeting said "We are very grateful to CVA's education partner ISSAT, (Institute for Space and its Applications and Technologies) for taking the initiative of organising that has proved to be been a very positive opportunity for everyone taking part . Indeed, we have seen what the best practices are in other European cities, and we have agreed on collaborative activities that will enable us to exploit the fascination of space to inspire young people to gravitate towards scientific and technical studies".
This first international "CVA Space schoolmasters" meeting took place in conjunction wih CVA's annual three-day seminar for teachers of math and science, also hosted this year by the City of Bremen. Over 20 teachers from seven Ariane Cities are improving their skills and knowledge about space education, through presentations by space transportation experts, attendance to scientific sessions of the COSPAR Conference, and a company visit to EADS Astrium, CVA's industrial member in Bremen."
