Europe's spaceport
Kourou combines its present role of high tech centre with its past history as a fishing and farming village which has now become a modern town.
In addition to Ariane and the Space Museum, Kourou enables the visitor to make acquaintance with the many cultures represented in French Guiana - Amerindians, Maroons, immigrants from the Caribbean, Europeans and the local Creole population. The richness of Kourou lies also in the many and varied ways of life to be found in this or that part of the town.
