Educational Network of Ariane Cities
Liège, city of French culture, wins fame through theatrical, cinematographic and musical activities. The Philharmonic Orchestra and the Royal Walloon Opera boast an international reputation. The city also counts over two dozens of museums. Its parks and gardens, its architectural patrimony, its picturesque streets, its pedestrianized centre, its gastronomy and its legendary conviviality – they all prove that Liège merits its nickname "the fiery city".
The city is the heart of an urban area of 600,000 inhabitants. About one third actually live in Liège. Liège took advantage of its geographical situation. Thanks to its river port (which is the second largest on the European continent), to its six highways, to its new railwaystation (accessible to high speed trains) and its airport (which entered the top 8 whereas freight is concerned), Liège has become a multimodal crossroads in the heart of northwestern Europe. Also numerous enterprises, active in various sectors of high technology, are situated in this very area (biochemistry, multimedia, etc.).
Techspace Aero is one of them. This company is a partner in the development of the main aerospace programmes and sole manufacturer of aeroplaneparts in Belgium. It conceives, develops, certifies and commercialises its own products. Its activities are based on three different strategic levels :
Techspace Aero disposes of the major standards of certification issued by both international and military authorities (ISO9001, AS9000, JAR145, FAR145, AQAP110, MRP2 and ISO14011).
Together, the City of Liège, Techspace Aero and the University of Liège contribute actively to the development of the pedagogical programmes initiated by the Community of Ariane Cities.
